Bonchon was founded in 2002 in Busan, South Korea, by Jinduk Seo and expanded to the United States in 2006, quickly earning a cult following for its double-fried, hand-brushed Korean fried chicken. The chain has been recognized by Business Insider as the gold standard for fried chicken and by Food & Wine for Best Chicken Wings in the U.S., and has appeared on Entrepreneur's Franchise 500 list multiple years running.
