Clavel is a family-owned mezcaleria and taqueria that opened in 2015 in Baltimore's Remington neighborhood, founded by Lane Harlan with Sinaloa-born chef-partner Carlos Raba. The restaurant is known for in-house nixtamalized tortillas made from heirloom corn sourced from Oaxaca and Puebla, cochinita pibil, lamb barbacoa, and a mezcal list exceeding 75 bottles. Clavel has been a three-time James Beard Award semifinalist for Outstanding Bar, and Raba received a Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic nomination in 2022.
