Ha VL

Ha VL, opened in 2004 by Ha (Christina) Luu and William Vuong in Portland's Jade District, is one of the most celebrated Vietnamese restaurants in the Pacific Northwest, earning James Beard Award semifinalist recognition for chef-steward Peter Vuong. The tiny counter-service spot is famous for its rotating daily selection of small-batch regional Vietnamese soups — from bún chả ốc to coconut chicken curry — crafted with free-range ingredients and slow-simmered broths that sell out before noon.
