La Choza Restaurant
La Choza opened in 1983 as the sister restaurant to The Shed, itself a Santa Fe institution since 1953 founded by Thornton and Polly Carswell, and is now operated by the family's third generation. Housed in an adobe building that was once part of the historic Mercer Ranch, La Choza received the James Beard Foundation's America's Classics award in 2006 for its quality New Mexican cuisine, local character, and lasting appeal. It has been featured in The New York Times, USA Today, and Bon Appétit, and is celebrated for its award-winning red and green chile.
