Lana's in Oakland began in 2015 as Cookiebar Creamery, founded by two high school friends with roots in Oakland and Alameda; in 2020 the business was rebranded as Lana's to honor the founder's mother and expanded its menu to include smash burgers alongside handcrafted ice cream. Located at 517 8th Street, Lana's is known for grass-fed beef smash burgers — particularly the Western BBQ Smash with crispy onions, bacon, and house BBQ sauce — paired with Cajun-seasoned fries and Asian-inspired ice cream flavors. The shop is frequently cited as one of the East Bay's best spots for both burgers and homemade ice cream.
