LC's Bar-B-Q was founded in 1986 by L.C. Richardson, who opened the restaurant at age 52 on Blue Parkway in Kansas City after a career at Farmland Industries, using retirement funds to pursue his passion for cooking. The restaurant became a legendary Kansas City institution, particularly known for its hickory-smoked burnt ends and its proximity to Arrowhead Stadium, which made it a pre-game destination for Chiefs fans. Anthony Bourdain featured LC's in a 2012 episode of No Reservations and praised the burnt ends; the restaurant is now operated by Richardson's granddaughter Tausha Hammett.
