Established in 1994 in Salt Lake City's Cottonwood Heights area, Lone Star Taqueria transformed a former frozen yogurt shop into a cult destination for Mexican street food. Fish tacos made with fresh fish flown in daily are the signature draw, and the restaurant's fame spread nationally after a feature on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and a Sunset magazine nod naming it the "West's best taco." An extensive salsa bar and build-your-own menu with meats including carne asada, al pastor, and shrimp have kept lines long for more than three decades.
