Maneki is Seattle's oldest Japanese restaurant, founded in 1904 in the International District's Japantown and recognized as one of the first sushi bars on the West Coast of the United States. Operating through more than 120 years of history — including rebuilding after World War II incarceration and surviving the COVID-19 pandemic with community support — Maneki is now owned by InterIm CDA and stewarded by longtime manager Jean Nakayama.
