Modern Apizza

Modern Apizza is a New Haven, Connecticut landmark founded in 1934 by Tony Tolli as Tony's Apizza at 874 State Street, making it one of the oldest continuously operating pizzerias in America. Part of New Haven's revered 'Holy Trinity' of pizza alongside Frank Pepe and Sally's, Modern uses an oil-fired brick oven and is renowned for pies like the Italian Bomb and Clams Casino. Pizza Today named it 2023 Pizzeria of the Year, and it has been ranked among the top ten pizzerias in the country by multiple national publications.
