St. Elmo Steak House

St. Elmo Steak House has operated continuously since 1902 at 127 S. Illinois Street in Indianapolis, making it one of the oldest steakhouses in the United States. Founded by Joe Stahr as a saloon, it is famed for its fiery shrimp cocktail and has been recognized with the James Beard Foundation's America's Classics Award in 2012. In 2020, it ranked among the 25 highest-grossing independent restaurants in the country, with annual sales exceeding $21 million.
