Taquiza was founded in November 2014 by web developer-turned-chef Steve Santana in Miami Beach, and became one of Miami's first restaurants to nixtamalize, stone-grind, and hand-press tortillas in-house daily using organic, non-GMO blue corn sourced from small Midwest farms. The restaurant has been featured on Andrew Zimmern's The Zimmern List on the Travel Channel and on Food Network, and earned a listing in the Michelin Guide. Taquiza's North Beach location serves as its flagship, offering blue corn tacos, totopos, and traditional Mexican street fare.
