Tonbo Ramen

Tonbo Ramen opened in 2017 in a 1914 building at 211 S. Wilmington St. in downtown Raleigh, becoming the city's first ramen and izakaya bar. Co-owner Tom Mukoyama, a longtime Triangle-area restaurateur, created scratch-made noodles and 20-hour broths to deliver authentic Japanese ramen to Raleigh. The restaurant subsequently closed, with its closure attributed in part to the disruptions of 2020.
