Wingstop was founded in 1994 in Garland, Texas, by Antonio Swad and Bernadette Fiaschetti with a concept focused exclusively on chicken wings, themed around pre-jet aviation of the 1930s and 1940s. The first franchise location opened in 1997, and the chain went public in 2015. As of 2026, Wingstop operates more than 3,000 locations worldwide, with digital sales accounting for approximately 72 percent of system-wide transactions.
