Zip's Cafe
Zip's Cafe opened in 1926 on Mt. Lookout Square in Cincinnati, founded by Zip Kirschner, and has survived 100 years and six owners by maintaining an almost unchanged menu of hand-pattied cheeseburgers — using beef sourced exclusively from the local Avril-Bleh & Sons butcher — alongside a distinctive non-Cincinnati-style chili. A signature item, the Girthburger topped with housemade mettwurst, was named by former Cincinnati Bengal Pat McInally, and the bar's "code room" once served as an illegal horse-racing betting parlor.
