Room 39 opened in November 2004 as one of Kansas City's original farm-to-table restaurants, founded by chef and owner Ted Habiger, a three-time James Beard Foundation Outstanding Chef Award nominee who previously worked at Danny Meyer's Union Square Cafe. The restaurant's daily-changing menu sources local meats and produce, and a second location opened in Leawood, Kansas in 2007.
