Slows Bar BQ opened in September 2005 in Detroit's historic Corktown neighborhood, founded by Phillip Cooley, his father Ron, brother Ryan, and chef Brian Perrone in a meticulously renovated 1880s building. Widely credited as one of the first modern destination restaurants in Detroit, it was featured on Adam Richman's Man vs. Food and helped catalyze the revitalization of the Corktown district. The restaurant has since grown to multiple Michigan locations and remains a celebrated anchor of Detroit's dining scene.
