Dooky Chase's Restaurant
Established in 1941 in New Orleans, Dooky Chase's Restaurant is one of America's most historically significant dining institutions, long presided over by the late Leah Chase — the 'Queen of Creole Cuisine.' During the civil rights era, it served as a secret meeting place for leaders including Martin Luther King Jr., who strategized over Leah's legendary Creole Gumbo. Named a James Beard Foundation America's Classic in 2025, the restaurant also served as the inspiration for Disney's Princess Tiana.
