Magnolias opened in 1990 in Charleston's French Quarter at the site of the city's original 1739 Customs House, and is widely credited with igniting the New Southern cuisine movement that transformed Charleston into a nationally recognized culinary destination. Led today by Culinary Director Kelly Franz, the menu features Lowcountry classics like fried green tomatoes, shellfish gumbo, and Lowcountry bouillabaisse prepared with locally sourced ingredients. Magnolias has held a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence since 1997 and earned TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice Award in 2024.
